TalkingChina has provided translation services for the Shanghai International Film and TV Festival for ten consecutive years

June 26, 2026 – As the 31st Shanghai TV Festival’s “Magnolia Blossom” awards ceremony came to a close at the Lingang Performing Arts Center, TalkingChina, the official designated language service provider, successfully completed all translation work for the 2026 Shanghai International Film and TV Festival. Since first winning the bid in 2016, TalkingChina has now provided professional linguistic support for this international audiovisual event for ten consecutive years.

 

The 28th Shanghai International Film Festival was held from June 12 to 21. This year’s festival received over 4,100 submissions from 125 countries and regions, setting a new record for scale. For the first time, all 12 films in the main competition lineup had their world premieres. The Golden Goblet Award for Best Feature Film went to the Chinese film *Atlantic*, which also won Best Cinematography. The Belgian film *Girl of Faint Light* received the Grand Jury Prize. Moroccan film *Halima* saw its director Yassine Idrissi win Best Director and its actress Khadija Amari win Best Actress. Chinese actor Zhang Songwen took home Best Actor for his role in *The Box Mystery*. In the Asian New Talent section, the Chinese film *The Taste of Chinese* won Best Picture.

 

The 31st Shanghai TV Festival ran from June 22 to 26. The Magnolia Awards attracted entries from 60 countries and regions across five continents, with a 39.5% increase in submissions compared to the previous year. At the awards ceremony, Yu Hewei won Best Actor for *The Silence of Glory*, and Yang Zi won Best Actress for *Tree of Life*. Dong Yong received Best Supporting Actor for *The Peaceful Years*, while Chi Peng won Best Supporting Actress for *All Things Born*. Li Xue won Best Director for *Tree of Life*, and Dong Zhe took Best Original Screenplay for *The Peaceful Years*.

 

This year’s services from TalkingChina comprehensively covered all major scenarios of the Shanghai International Film Festival, the Belt and Road Film Festival, and the Shanghai TV Festival, including opening and closing ceremonies, industry summits, premium film screenings, film and TV market trade fairs, press interviews with creators, and special press conferences. Interpretation services were provided in multiple languages, including English, German, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Indonesian, and Turkish.
